EntertainmentThe Best Family-Friendly Places To Visit in Las Vegas

February 28, 2019admin0

Contrary to what most may believe, you don’t have to go to California or to Arizona to the next states over to visit family-friendly places. Las Vegas, with its glitzy casinos, adult entertainment, and its “Sin City” nickname, might not be the first destination that comes to mind when planning a family-friendly trip. However, it would be a shame not to take advantage of the frequent flights and hotel discounts for a budget-conscious getaway, even with kids in tow. Las Vegas offers a surprisingly wide array of attractions that will delight children and adults alike, many of them being free. Here are some of our favorite family-friendly things to do on your next Las Vegas visit!

Get up-close and personal with their favorite animals

Las Vegas can be an unforgettable visit for the budding animal lover. From immersive aquariums to exotic wildlife, there is plenty of places to explore:

  • Visit dolphins and white tigers at the Siegfried and Roy Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat
  • Walk amongst the sharks and colorful fishes at the Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay, the SeaQuest Interactive Aquarium or the Silverton Aquarium (the latest even has mermaid shows!)
  • Discover a luscious rainforest and its inhabitants at the Flamingo Wildlife Habitat at the Flamingo Hotel
  • Get close to lions, giraffes and exotic birds at the Lion Habitat Ranch

Catch a family-friendly show

While many of Las Vegas’ shows are adult oriented, you can also find entertainments that your children will love, and that you will too:

  • The Cirque du Soleil offers several kid-friendly shows across Las Vegas, including Mystere, the Beatles LOVE, and O
  • The Blue Man Group blends music, comedy, art, and science in an interactive show that will delight the whole family
  • Step into the Middle Ages at the Tournaments of Kings at the Excalibur Hotel
  • Enjoy free circus acts at the Carnival Midway at the Circus Circus Hotel
  • The Viva Vision light show on Fremont Street runs hourly for six minutes

Explore museums your kids will love

Las Vegas can get hot, but it also offers plenty to do indoor. These family-friendly museums will keep your children busy for hours:

  • The Madame Tussauds museum is heaven for Instagram worthy photo-ops with lifelike wax figures of celebrities and Las Vegas legends.
  • Although not a museum per se, the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens with its ever-changing colorful and whimsical displays is a must-see while in town
  • The Springs Preserve is well worth an excursion outside of the strip and includes a botanical garden, two museums (the Origen museum and the Nevada State Museum, both interactive and kid-friendly) and a butterfly habitat
  • Step straight into the Marvel universe at the Marvel Avengers S.T.A.T.I.O.N. (Scientific Training and Tactical Intelligence Operative Network)
  • The Discovery’s Children Museum offers three stories of hands-on exhibits for hours of fun

Food for kids and kids at heart

Enjoy a fun trip down memory lane and indulge in some fun food that will keep the pickiest eaters happy:

  • Tastes of the World at the Coca-Cola Store allows you to try sodas from all around the world
  • M&M’s World is a must-see for any candy lover, with thousands of candies you can even personalize to choose from
  • The Ethel M Chocolate factory offers not only a sweet (put intended) factory tour but also a gorgeous cacti garden

Play all day

Whether it is about burning some energy or getting an adrenaline high, there is plenty to do in Las Vegas no matter how old your children are:

  • The Adventuredome is a five-acre indoor theme park with rides for all ages
  • The 550-foot-tall High Roller observation wheel, one of the world’s tallest, will give your family the best view over the strip
  • The Downtown Container Park offers a unique playground with a vertiginous treehouse and kid-friendly events
  • Beat the heat at the Wet ‘n’ Wild Water Park with its 25 slides and attractions
  • The Glowzone is an unusual glow-in-the-dark arena/play space
